In mid-2022, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) brought me on to develop an interactive WebAR experience that blended digital media with physical space. The goal was to create a browser-based augmented reality installation using 8thWall, allowing visitors to activate and view a 3D animated artwork through their smartphones; no app required.

The experience was triggered by an image target, which acted as a visual anchor for the AR content. When a visitor pointed their phone’s camera at the designated image, the system detected it in real time and overlaid a dynamic 3D installation within the physical environment. I was responsible for the full build, including custom 8thWall scripting, asset optimization, animation timing, and performance tuning to ensure the experience ran smoothly across a range of mobile devices and network conditions.

This project was well received by the museum and patrons alike and not only extended PAMM’s curatorial reach into augmented reality but also demonstrated how web-based AR can be used to create accessible, immersive art experiences that live beyond the walls of the museum.
