Mercy For Animals: Investigation Media Website

In late 2023, one of the world’s largest animal rights organizations engaged me to build a platform that centralizes and distributes their publicly available investigatory media. The goal was to broaden access to high-impact images and videos captured by factory farm investigators, making it easier for journalists, activists, educators, and advocates to find and download pro-animal rights media for use in campaigns, reporting, and education.

The project involved building a secure, scalable web application from the ground up. I designed and implemented a custom user authentication and account system to manage access to high-resolution downloads while tracking usage for reporting and analytics. The front-end experience was built with a custom reactive architecture, optimized for speed and responsiveness across a wide range of devices.

In addition to the user experience layer, I developed custom search and filtering extensions to allow users to quickly locate relevant media based on metadata like location, animal type, facility conditions, and tags. The backend was built with a bespoke content management interface tailored specifically to the organization’s workflows, allowing their media team to upload, tag, and publish content seamlessly without relying on third-party CMS constraints.

The result is a robust, mission-driven platform that empowers users to easily access and share investigative media, expanding the reach and visibility of the organization’s work to protect animals and hold industrial agriculture accountable. The site is live here.
